Hi Padmakirti - Your idea to find a percussion group and talk to people there sounds good. If you could find a djembe teacher, they may have ideas. Networking with percussionists would probably the best way to do that. It's always best to do what fi…

Hi Sue, Like that one. I'm still trying to decide my favourite poem. Right now it is SA Griffin's 'Pigstreet'. Been reading up Snyder and Fred Voss. Also want to read some Seamus Heaney before I decide. It's fun to do...but difficult too. With a…

Thanks for your response Guy. Yes , it's true , I'm in Cambridge. Many years ago I played in various 'musical settings'. Played in a Organ/Drums Duo at Butlins/Bognor Regis one Xmas. Played in a Punk Band in the 1970s for a while. Also played Dance…

Enjoyed the poems Guy, the Gary Synder.s are so tangible and authentic. Here is a poem by John Burnside called Prayer Give me a lttle less with every dawn: colur a breath of wind, the perfection of shadows, till, what I find,I find because it's the…

Hi Vajradaka, Sounds really wonderful. I'm very much in agreement with you that creativity as an adaptive process brings real richness to Buddhist practice. Best of luck. In the Dharma, Guy

Hello Padmakirti - I'm mostly a guitarist but have been known to gravitate to percussion during jam sessions. This seems like the right place for your post. In terms of making more of your drumming ability, I recommend joining a band. It can be a w…

Padmakirti

fellow drummers/percussionists

Don't know if this is the right place for this entry. I want to be in contact with my fellow drummers/ percussionists. I want to make more of my drumming ability. Currently I drum for fun in the lunch hour , play the occasional unpaid 'gig' of one sort or another. I'd like to know other people's experiences, where they want to go with their drumming ability , if they're interested in organising drum workshops.....

ART & CRAFT-WORK AS PROCESS OF CREATIVITY

Strengthen the basis of Creativity
I believe that the most generally useful attitude to strengthening creativity is to think in terms of become a creative process within yourself rather than only thinking of art and craft-making as a creative form of expression. Thinking of yourself as a creative process strengthens the very foundations and skills out which your art and craft-making arises. A result of approaching the arts and craft-making in this way is that you can consciously develop t… Continue

Happy Enlightenment Day!

Sitting zazen
like diligent Shakyamuni
under the Bodhi tree.
Drop your self and be!

Suffering and fear fade away.
This is Enlightenment Day.
